SUSPICIOUS@SAFEONWEB.BE WINS AN AWARD

On 11 December 2020, at the prestigious #PublicaAwards event, we won 3rd place in the Security & Safety category with our project suspicious@safeonweb.be.

Phishing is the main cybersecurity problem affecting Belgian citizens. By helping to protect the people of Belgium against phishing, we kill three birds with one stone. The more messages we receive on  suspicious@safeonweb.be the more sites we can block. We can block fake websites more quickly if internet users send us suspicious messages as soon as possible. The sooner we act, the fewer victims are made.

The purpose of this project is simple: we call on internet users to voluntarily alert us when they receive a suspicious message, a so-called phishing message, by forwarding this message to suspicious@safeonweb.be. It's easy: just forward the e-mail to the address  suspicious@safeonweb.be.

We are really proud of this award. This e-mail address enables everyone to can help us make the internet a safer place. And it helps. People send us lots of messages, an average of 10,000 per day. We are constantly improving our technology and can have new suspicious web pages blocked on a daily basis.

Phédra Clouner, Deputy Director Centre for Cyber Security Belgium

We are very honoured to get this award. Together with 1000s of internet users we can make the internet a pleasant and safe place to be.
