Protecting citizens against investment fraud remains a priority for the CCB.
With this in mind, at the beginning of October, the CCB launched its national awareness campaign with a clear objective: to inform, alert and encourage vigilance against online investment scams.
One month after its launch, the results show a considerable impact and a strong collective commitment to better protect Belgians.
A national campaign with a strong impact
Broadcast on television, social media and online, among other platforms, the campaign reached a wide audience across the country.
- On television, the CCB's message was seen by nearly 70% of Belgians over the age of 18, or more than 6.3 million people.
- Among the audience most exposed to investment fraud, more than 80% of men aged 40 to 70 were reached by the campaign.
- On Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram), the campaign reached more than 446,000 people and generated 36,754 clicks to the Safeonweb.be website, where citizens can find practical advice on how to recognise and report scams.
- Online, the awareness videos generated 6.5 million impressions among 2.4 million people, with an exceptional completion rate of 83%, demonstrating the public's interest in this topic.
Essential collective mobilisation
The success of this campaign is also based on close collaboration between the CCB and numerous public and private partners.
Actors in the financial sector, local authorities and many others widely relayed the message through their own channels.
Some partners organised local awareness-raising activities, information sessions and educational initiatives to help citizens identify the warning signs of fraudulent investment offers.
This collective effort, made possible by the involvement and support of our partners, has helped to multiply the impact of the campaign nationwide.
Remaining vigilant
While the results of the campaign are encouraging, investment fraud remains a very real threat. Scams are becoming more diverse, using new technologies and targeting ever-wider audiences.
The CCB, through Safeonweb, will therefore continue to inform, educate and raise awareness among citizens in order to promote safer use of digital technology.
