Serious IT problems at Belgian companies implementing CrowdStrike update

Following problems with an update from cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike, businesses and organisations worldwide are experiencing IT problems.

When installing the update, affected organisations get a so-called ‘blue screen’ and systems crash. CrowdStrike provides a solution and it appears to be working. We advise affected organisations to follow the procedure suggested by CrowdStrike.

There are also many users of this product in Belgium. Currently, SNCB, Brussels and Charleroi Airport , Bpost and several government departments are affected.

This is not a cyber attack, but a technical problem caused by a cyber security solution provider.

The Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium is closely monitoring the situation and informing affected companies. IT managers of affected organisations, who have questions, can contact intelligence@ccb.belgium.be.
