Brussels Cybersecurity Summit

Brussels Cybersecurity Summit

Cybersecurity has become a major political priority on an EU level. During the current and previous EU legislatures, we have faced a steeply increased cyberthreat, but we equally witnessed a surge in EU initiatives and legislation. What will and should the next five years bring?

The Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU comes at an opportune moment to take stock of major dynamics and to reflect on the future.

This summit will bring together some 500 key European policy makers and global experts in cybersecurity strategy, investment, and cyber threat intelligence. The event will be held in Brussels, but the main stage will be live streamed. The event will connect people, ideas, national experiences, practical lessons of the past and insights from the latest research. Such a bottom-up analysis can provide concrete ways forward for cybersecurity practitioners as well as for policy makers, including the upcoming Commission and Parliament.

The summit wants to be an interactive bridge-builder that drives European cybersecurity forward, promotes new concepts such as Active Cyber Protection, and pushes the EU to cross ‘the last mile’ to make Europe more cybersecure.

The Master of ceremony of the Brussels cybersecurity conference is Phédra Clouner (Deputy Director General, Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium, CCB).

With closing remarks by Alexander De Croo, Belgian Prime Minister.
