Belgium breaks new ground in NIS2 transposition
News
Belgium was the only country to fully complete the NIS2 transposition before the European deadline of 17 October 2024. This highlights Belgium's goal of strengthening the cyber resilience of companies and integrating certification into compliance monitoring.
Certification through the CyberFundamentals Scheme
Belgian law provides for certification through the CyberFundamentals scheme. This scheme provides a way for organisations to prove compliance with NIS2 guidelines and helps them with different level options to strengthen their cyber resilience. At the Bucharest Cybersecurity Conference, Romania joined the scheme group and became the first European country to enter into this partnership with Belgium.
International Recognition and Future Collaborations
With Romania's accession, the CyberFundamentals scheme can be submitted to the European Co-operation for Accreditation (EA) for wider international recognition. This cooperation offers benefits to international companies by automatically recognising certificates in all participating countries. More countries are expected to follow Romania's example.
