European Cybersecurity Month kick-off event, 27 September 2022

On 27 September 2022, the Council - together with other EU institutions, bodies and agencies - will kick-start a month of initiatives with an event that will take place in Brussels.

Under the motto ‘A decade promoting cybersecurity awareness’, the EU institutions are coming together to boost the cooperation in our fight against cyber threats, and to take forward the interinstitutional debate on cybersecurity.

European Cybersecurity Month is an annual awareness-raising campaign that takes place across the EU.

The aim is to:

  • raise awareness of cybersecurity threats
  • promote cybersecurity among citizens and organisations
  • provide them with information on how to protect themselves online through education and sharing of best practices

In 2022, European Cybersecurity Month which will be held in October turns 10. This year's campaign will mark a decade of joint outreach work by the EU institutions to promote and strengthen cybersecurity.

Every year, European Cybersecurity Month puts the spotlight on selected issues linked to cybersecurity.

The theme for 2022 will be ransomware and phishing - two major trends observed in the current cyber threat landscape.
